The Neuendorf House is a compelling example of how minimalist architecture can create spaces that are both serene and impactful. Its clean lines, precise proportions, and thoughtful use of materials contribute to a sense of quiet elegance that resonates throughout the property. A timeless design free from traditions and inventions, yet close to nature.
Formerly a family vacation home, the Neuendorf House—also known as Casa Neuendorf—is a spacious retreat spanning 6,000 square feet. Set amidst 30 acres of lush private gardens, the house features five bedrooms, accommodating up to 11 guests in luxurious comfort. The visitor is invited to approach the house on foot, along the 110m absolutely straight, stepped stone path. Parallel to the path, and extending along its entire length, looms a freestanding wall, enhancing the incline down away from the house. One enters the villa through a narrow slit that opens into a roofless 12m² atrium with 9m-high walls. To one side of the house, a 30m-long pool dramatically projects towards the horizon.
The architects' meticulous attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the Neuendorf House's design. From the rooftop terrace to the salt-water pools and clay tennis court, each element has been carefully integrated to create a seamless and immersive experience for residents and visitors alike. The nature of the "Locus" was the criteria.
With its organic vegetable garden and thoughtfully landscaped grounds, the Neuendorf House offers a sanctuary where guests can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and reconnect with the natural world. Finished in the local Santanyí stone – a reddish lime stuc that matches the surrounding soil – the house achieves harmony with its setting through the use of these natural materials.
In every corner of the Neuendorf House, simplicity reigns supreme, reminding us of the timeless beauty and tranquility that can be achieved through minimalist design.
As guests explore the Neuendorf House, they are invited to slow down, breathe deeply, and embrace the serenity of their surroundings. Whether lounging by the pool or strolling through the gardens, every moment spent in this architectural masterpiece is an opportunity for reflection and renewal.
The Neuendorf House serves as a beacon of inspiration for architects and designers around the world, demonstrating the profound impact that simplicity and purity can have on the built environment. As we continue to strive for balance and harmony in our lives, spaces like the Neuendorf House remind us of the enduring power of minimalist design to uplift the human spirit. In the project, the principle of "No waste" was applied.
The Neuendorf House stands as a testament to the transformative power of simplicity and purity in architectural form. By embracing these timeless principles, we can create spaces that not only inspire awe and admiration but also nurture our souls and enrich our lives.
In a world filled with noise and distraction, the Neuendorf House offers a sanctuary of peace and tranquility—a place where simplicity reigns supreme and the beauty of the natural world is celebrated in all its glory. The overall design is functional and rational, in accordance with the architect and client criteria.
