Timeless Elegance – A Harmonious Transformation by Marra Interiorismo

To maintain the integrity of the original structure, the team decided to restore the existing flooring. By carefully sanding and varnishing, they revitalized the wood, allowing it to become a key feature of the home’s aesthetic.

This attention to detail preserves the home’s history while making it feel fresh and new. A focal point of the design is the kitchen’s earthy-toned countertop, which is paired harmoniously with hydraulic-style floor tiles. These design choices not only create visual interest but also pay homage to traditional Spanish craftsmanship, bringing a sense of warmth and authenticity to the heart of the home. Much of the furniture was custom-designed and built to maximize the available space. This bespoke approach is exemplified by a built-in bookshelf that seamlessly blends into the wall, allowing personal items to shine and bring character to the room.

The dining area, dominated by a natural oak table from Ondarreta, is complemented by terracotta-colored Hari chairs, which serve as the project's cohesive element, uniting the space through color and texture. Marra Interiorismo’s approach to this project marries thoughtful design with functionality. The choice to move the kitchen redefines how the space is experienced. Instead of the typical separation between living, dining, and cooking areas, the new layout creates a fluid connection, turning the kitchen into a focal point of the home. This design encourages a more interactive and social lifestyle, allowing the occupants to cook, entertain, and relax in a unified, light-filled space. One of the standout features of the project is the decision to integrate the old sunroom. By bringing this external element into the interior space, the design achieves a greater sense of openness. The sunroom’s large windows allow for an abundance of natural light, further enhancing the brightness of the communal areas. This choice also blurs the boundary between indoors and outdoors, giving the home a greater connection to its natural surroundings.

The restoration of the original wooden flooring is another aspect that stands out. Instead of replacing it with something new, Marra Interiorismo chose to honor the history of the space by sanding, refinishing, and varnishing the existing floor. This not only brings warmth and character to the home but also serves as a sustainable design choice, reducing the need for new materials and emphasizing the importance of preserving the home’s original features.
