Founded by architect Salvador Reyes Ríos and artist Josefina Larraín Lagos, Reyes Ríos + Larraín Arquitectos has set a benchmark in the restoration and rehabilitation of architectural heritage in Mexico. Their award-winning work has transformed historic colonial mansions and haciendas in the Yucatán Peninsula and other regions into luxury design hotels and private residences, preserving the original character of the buildings and the local essence of their surroundings. Beyond their restoration projects, the firm has undertaken numerous contemporary designs, including private residences, housing complexes, and public buildings for civic and cultural purposes. They are also renowned for their furniture and interior designs, as well as environmentally sustainable landscape architecture that complements their architectural endeavors. Salvador Reyes Ríos holds degrees as an Industrial Technician from the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN, 1984) and as an Architect from the Metropolitan Autonomous University of Mexico (UAM, 1988). Between 1996 and 2000, he pursued a master's degree in Design and specialized in Urbanism and Conservation of Historic Buildings at the same university. His architectural portfolio encompasses restoration and remodeling of historic properties, design of private residences, public buildings for social activities, as well as public and private structures dedicated to tourism and culture, both in Mexico and internationally. He oversees the comprehensive planning, development, and execution of architectural projects, including his own designs in furniture, lighting, and interior design. Josefina Larraín Lagos is a self-taught artist and designer with expertise in restoration, landscape design, interior design, sculpture restoration, and renovation of historic buildings. Raised in Germany, she studied Philosophy before moving to New York in 1988, where she collaborated as a sculpture assistant in Paul Fullerton's studio. She also contributed to the production of numerous short films designed by Niki de Saint Phalle and produced by her son, Philip Mathews.
